How to Add Joules to Claude or ChatGPT (2-Minute Setup)
Joules is a cycling coach that lives inside the chatbot you already use. There's nothing to download. In ChatGPT, add it in one tap from the app directory. In Claude (or any MCP client), paste one connector URL. Either way you sign in with your email and start talking — about a minute, start to finish. It's free while Joules is in beta — no card.
Before you start: what you need
Joules works in both ChatGPT and Claude. On ChatGPT, using apps needs a paid plan — Plus or Pro — but adding Joules itself is one tap from the app directory, nothing to paste. On Claude, any plan works — including the free tier: a free Claude account can add one custom connector, so just make it Joules (Pro, Max, and Team can add more). That's each chatbot's rule, not ours. Joules itself behaves the same on all of them, and it's free while in beta.
One bit of vocabulary and then we're done with the jargon: a connector speaks MCP (the Model Context Protocol), the open standard that lets your assistant talk to an outside service live. It's why you can just ask for coaching in a normal chat instead of exporting files and pasting them in.
Your connector URL (Claude & other MCP clients)
ChatGPT users can skip this — you add Joules from the app directory (below). For Claude or any other MCP client, this is the one thing you paste:
https://context.joules.cc Add Joules to Claude
- Open Claude → Settings → Connectors and click Add custom connector.
- Paste
https://context.joules.ccinto the URL field and save. - Claude will prompt you to connect. Sign in with your email — a magic link, no password to remember.
- Back in any chat, the Joules tools are now available. Say "Be my cycling coach — let's build my plan."
Add Joules to ChatGPT
Joules is a listed app in ChatGPT's app directory, so you add it in one tap — no URL to paste, nothing to configure.
- In ChatGPT, open the apps menu (the + in the message composer, or Settings → Apps & Connectors).
- Search for Joules and open it.
- Click Connect and sign in with your email when prompted.
- Start a new chat with Joules enabled and say "Be my cycling coach — let's build my plan."
What happens in your first chat
The first conversation is the interview — about ten minutes of coach questions about your goal event, your week, your history, and how training has felt lately. You don't need any devices connected; Joules can coach from your goal and your real weeks alone, even from just duration and perceived effort. You leave that first chat with a season mapped backward from your goal and your first week written. After that, you pull each week on demand and Joules grades what you actually did so the next one adapts.

Troubleshooting
- "I can't find Joules in ChatGPT." Using apps in ChatGPT needs a paid plan (Plus or Pro) — that's ChatGPT's gate, not ours. Open the apps menu and search "Joules." On Claude, custom connectors are available on every plan including free; make sure you're in Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
- "It asks me to sign in every time." Make sure you completed the email magic-link the first time; that's what links your assistant to your Joules account.
- "The tools don't show up in the chat." In ChatGPT, open the Tools menu in the composer and confirm Joules is toggled on for that chat.
- Still stuck? Email hello@joules.cc and we'll walk you through it.
Do I lose anything if I stop?
No. Everything lives in your Joules account, and you can always ask your assistant to write your current plan out so you keep your own copy. Joules is free while it's in beta, there's no card on file, and nothing is locked away.
Ready? Add the coach to your chatbot.
Joules gives ChatGPT or Claude a cycling coach's brain — it interviews you, builds your season, plans every week, and grades each week against your real rides. A minute to set up, free while we're in beta. In ChatGPT, add it from the app directory in one tap; in Claude, copy the URL and paste it into your connector settings:
